Burr and Burton Academy’s Music Department has shown tremendous growth over the last decade. Through our diverse course offerings and outstanding performances generations of students have grown to develop a profound lifelong appreciation of music. Burr and Burton plans to raise the bar once again and become a Steinway School, where students can study on the highest quality instruments available. As we continue to grow, our efforts reach beyond the school walls and into the community, providing incentives for outside organizations to use our facilities during the summer months and collaborate throughout the year to bring quality educational opportunities to our students.

The Steinway 88 keys program gives you the opportunity to directly influence the education of our students. Every piano has 88 keys. By purchasing a key, your generosity will give our students the opportunity to perform with the world’s most respected concert piano.

How it Works Donate a Key

About Us

The Creative Arts Department help students develop the necessary skills and knowledge to engage in a lifetime of artistic enjoyment and appreciation. Through project-based learning, application, and performance, students also develop a mindset of perseverance along with creative and critical thinking skills. Through interactive feedback from peers and instructors, students can further develop their personal artistic voice, which in turn allows them to understand their unique perspective and place in the world.

Our Goal

Ultimately, our goal is to raise $275,000 for a complete set of Pianos for our school.

Our first goal is to have a Steinway Boston Institutional Piano in every practice room, and a Boston GP193 grand piano in the large music practice space. As funds are acquired, we plan to move the Boston grand piano to Founders Hall and acquire a Steinway B for the music room, and a Boston 178 for the vocal studio. At the time we are able to expand our performance space we plan to purchase a Steinway A for the stage, and then begin to acquire additional Boston uprights for our international dorms and new practice facilities. Our total investment needs for this project total roughly $275,000. Our first phase of this project we require us to raise $56,000 allowing us to get these fine instruments in students hands as soon as possible. Your help is needed.

This magnificent 6′ 11″ (211 cm) grand piano is often referred to by pianists as “the perfect piano.” It is a wonderfully balanced and versatile instrument that does extremely well in refined homes, teaching studios, and mid-sized venues.

GP 193 Performance Edition II At 6′ 4″ (193 cm), the GP-193 Performance Edition II produces a powerful yet warm sound and is an excellent choice for teaching studios.

Donate a Key

While any donation would be accepted and appreciated, we are looking to have donors purchase a key for a minimum donation of $700. People that purchase a key or a set of keys will have their name engraved on a plate that will be attached to the stage Steinway B. If you wish to purchase an entire piano, send us an email at 88keys@burrburton.org. This initial fundraising mechanism will allow us to purchase the first set of instruments. Our goal is to acquire $275,000 to outfit the entire school and provide the necessary tuning and maintenance of these amazing instruments, to ensure that the life of the piano is extended for many future generations.
